Volume 5: 9 September 2016

Ewww! What you looking at?!
This week's learning in short phrases:

UOI: Beaver butt-juice & Farming in Uzbekistan
Math: You look just like I do
Writing: I am an author
Randomness: Chair-me & How many kids can you pack into one room?
Experimentation: It's all about the tongue!

Homework:
Along with reading 20 minutes each night...

Tuesday: Meanings for Multiplication activity

Wednesday:  IXL is up and running again; please work on Grade 4 D.3 and A.7

Thursday:  Patterns in Multiplying activity

Friday: Enjoy reading about "beaver butt juice" while having that lovely piece of white frosted cake. Oh, maybe enjoy an apple and a book, too.

What processed food, or unprocessed food did you bring in?
Let's put our foods on this "food line", or decide if my food is made/grown closer to a farm or factory?
Let's look at the ingredients to help us decide if they food is closer to the factory... wait, what is that ingredient? If we can't read it, it probably is a man-made ingredient and made in factory. My food must be from further away from the farm and closer to a factory.
Wait! This does not look right. What do you think about this?
I think we need to move this? It has fewer ingredients than this food.
Oh, so that's what it looks like to use your draft to create a "perfect" final copy.
Wait, so our tongue has different types of "tasting buds?"
 Ahem! That's sour!
Is that bitter, sweet, or salty?
Mirror symmetry looks the same on both sides.
...wait, if that's true, can you mirror the shape on my side of the line?
A grade 3-5 joke: How many grades 3-5 can you fit into one classroom? All of them!
Why can? Well, seasons, weather, different crops, water, sun, drought, ahhhhhhh, so many factors that affect farmers!
Canning is a way people can have fresh pickles and jam during winter.
So, there's not just mirror symmetry? There is rotational symmetry, too! Check these fancy designs out!

Excuse me? Does anyone have a chair I can borrow?
